To Blog or Build An SBI! Site?

The simple fact is that blogging is just NOT right for the majority of people who want to start a real e-business.

So here's the obvious question...

"Why don't people just do it the right way the first time?" You know why?

Because people like "fast and easy." They want to think they can make money with as little effort as possible. It's just human nature I guess. That little "get-rich-quick" gremlin starts talking in their ear and they're off chasing the next thing.

But, "fast and easy to nowhere" doesn't seem like a great marketing plan for an e-business. And that's the message we want to deliver with the Blog or Build landing page. This page offers a great opportunity for you to help your visitors while you create credibility for yourself and SiteSell.

So Why The Big Buzz About Blogs?

It's Easy To Do
It's all too easy, with all the "blog buzz" lately to think blogging is cheap and quick and will make them easy money fast. Someone has to tell 'em it ain't so.

You Can Get One Up Fast
Yes, a blog goes up fast. With zero planning and research for the long term how long can it take.

Blogs Get Indexed Fast
Yes, blogs get indexed fast. That is the nature of blogs. We see the same with Blog It! in Site Build It!.

Blogs Are Starting To Look Like "Real" Sites
But beauty is only skin deep. It's much more about "show me the money" than show me a pretty site.

But...

After a while Blog content becomes like a 3-day old newspaper. Good only for wrapping fish. How does Google know that? Because it knows that visitors don't visit the old posts. That's one of the key points we mention on the Blog or Build landing page.

Compare that to a theme-based content site. There's a huge difference in terms of depth and Search Engine "friendliness."

SBI! sites are built on a foundation of stone, not sand. The Search Engines come back because they know there will be long-term, enduring value provided on an SBI! site. And the point you want to make to your prospects who may be considering a Blog instead of a more solid base for their e-business is clear...

"SBI! builds long-term, enduring businesses like no Blog can!"

Share this message with your visitors and you'll not only be doing them a favor but it will give your commissions a boost as well.

Strategies For Using The Blog Or Build Landing Page

We started this post in the 5P Forums to gauge affiliate's response to this landing page. It will give you some great ideas for content and messages to relay to your audience. Here's one by Mo from secsportsfan.com...

"This is great. Will be nice to have this blog-vs-website-page to refer people to. In my sports niche, most sites are blogs. Lately, some of those folks have shared with me their frustrations with their low traffic. Great to have one place to send them that explains it well."

Julie from massagetherapycareers.com talks about making $500 a month "just on adsense on my sbi site and about $10 on my blog a month." Let folks know. Money talks.

And as Amy pointed out in that same thread...

"An SBI! site is like a piece of real estate, not a firecracker that only a few (if any) will hear."

The point is...

"Cheap and quick to nowhere" is not a business model .

Any successful business requires persistence, learning the necessary skills, and implementing your plan over the long haul. This is what the SBI! process offers without needing tech skills or constant attention. And the result is a long term business that WILL succeed and stand the test of time. Even if "Hurricane Google" comes thru town (by changing their search results criteria).

This is an intellegent, honest message that deserves to be shared with your audience. You really could be helping them out.

Use The Comparison Chart

A great way to convince your audience is to just let them use the Comparison Chart. It puts WordPress and SBI! head-to-head, feature-for-feature and lets someone compare. It shows that there's just so much that's missing from WordPress. Once someone sees the difference, the choice becomes a no-brainer.

If you reach folks considering an online business you'll be doing them a favor. Send them to your unique RR URL for blogorbuild.sitesell.com to learn the truth. You'll find it in the Promo Center. You can even send them directly to the Comparison Chart by adding the anchor link code. Just add #COMPARE to the end of your RR URL.

You'll also find a complete set of Banner Ads in Snippet Build It! to help create awareness and interest about Blog or Build. But remember, the best way to create the credibility required to put your visitors in that "open-to-buy" frame of mind is to use your own heart-felt content. Use a message like Amy's...

"The power of an SBI theme-based content site goes way beyond the tools available to bloggers. (Remember - most of them are thinking "fast and easy" - kind of like "get rich quick")."

That's the kind of PREselling that creates credibility for her as well as for SiteSell. And that always leads to the highest conversions.

NOTE: But what if you have a typical SBI! site about "tortoise propagation" that has nothing to do with blogging or online marketing?

No need to get into "blog vs. build." Your audience may be considering blogging but it's not likely. They are more likely just "regular people" who'll accept your simple, heartfelt recommendation if they want to build a site. Just use our recommended approach on your "About Us" page and don't confuse your visitors.

Here's the biggest tip I can give you. Spend some time and REALLY read the Blog or Build landing page. You'll get lots of ideas on what you can say to your visitors to save them from what might be a big mistake. Have fun, be creative, and get your point across... Compared to building a real theme-based-content site with SBI! a Blog is not the way to go.

The "Blog or Build" message creates credibility for you ("hey, original, against-the-grain thinking!") and also for SiteSell and the Site Build It! process ("better than blogging, I better check it out!"). In a few years, once everyone gets over the "feeding frenzy," they'll realize that blogging is a technique best reserved for certain purposes and certain types of businesses.

Until then, keep people out of the whirlpool that can only suck them down. Show them they need SB! to build their business on a solid and proven foundation. Send them to the Blog or Build landing page. You'll find your RR URL for it in the Promo Center in the "Grow Interest - General" section.
